Snacks

Due to the increase of severe nut allergies in children, Care-a-Lot has become a nut-free facility.  We will not be able to accept any peanut or nut containing snacks.  This includes any snacks produced in a facility that also produces items with nuts.  Reading the package warnings and allergy alerts will help you verify it is nut-free before you purchase it.

Snacks are provided by the parents and children who wish to.  This makes the child feel special when it is their turn to supply the snack.  A monthly schedule will be attached to each month's newsletter stating who is responsible for snack each day.  If your child's name is on the list but you would rather, you may opt out and pay an additional $15 fee instead of providing snack.  It will still be your child's snack day, but our center will purchase the snack for you.  We require that snacks are nutritious and low in sugar.  Drinks may be 100% juice, milk, or bottled water. Packaging must be sent in with the snack also, so we can confirm that it is nut-free.  Home-made snacks must also be sent in with a list of ingredients.

Some great snack ideas are:  Bananas, apples, grapes (cut in half length-wise), applesauce, berries, cuties (small mandarin oranges), any mix of cut up fruit, baby carrots & dip, veggie mix (celery, grape tomatoes, cucumber slices, broccoli, carrots, etc), hard-boiled eggs (halved), string cheese, deli cheese/deli meat & crackers, small bagels with cream cheese, yogurt, popcorn, pretzels, animal crackers......IF THEY ARE NOT PROCESSED IN A FACILITY WITH NUTS.

No fruit snacks or cupcakes are accepted.
